Senior Metallurgists or Senior Process Engineers
SOUTEX is growing rapidly! We are looking for Senior Metallurgists or Senior Process Engineers with a minimum of 10 years of experience to join our team.

Your Responsibilities:
As part of our team, you will be involved in the design, commissioning, start-up, and optimization of mineral processing plants located in Canada and internationally.
Process Design
- Design and supervise metallurgical test programs to characterize ore deposits
- Analyze metallurgical test results
- Develop mineral processing flowsheets
- Supervise mass and heat balance development
- Perform process equipment sizing calculations and equipment selection
- Oversee the preparation of process drawings (PFDs and P&IDs)
- Estimate capital and operating costs for mineral processing plants
- Develop operational and process control strategies
- Prepare technical notes, opinions, and reports
Commissioning and Plant Support
- Support clients during plant commissioning, start-up, and optimization activities
- Develop training and operational management materials related to mineral processing operations and metallurgy
- Work closely with production teams to help achieve operational targets
- Conduct operational audits and recommend improvement projects
- Lead debottlenecking and process improvement initiatives
Project Management
- Plan and coordinate assigned projects
- Monitor project schedules and budgets
- Ensure the quality of project deliverables
- Communicate effectively with clients, engineers, and support teams to ensure project success
- Motivate project teams to achieve SOUTEX quality standards
Business Development
- Identify and understand clients’ needs and objectives
- Contribute to the preparation of technical and commercial proposals
- Develop new business opportunities and maintain long-term client relationships
- Support and contribute to the continuous improvement of SOUTEX practices
Your Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Mining, Metallurgical, Materials, Chemical Engineering, or another engineering discipline. Graduate studies (Master’s or Ph.D.) are considered an asset
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mineral processing plant operations and/or process plant design
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Project management experience and the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate technical personnel
- Self-motivated, autonomous, and innovative
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient in both French and English. Knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset
- Proficient with Microsoft Office. Experience with specialized process simulation and engineering software is an asset (Matlab, Bruno, JKSimMet, USIM PAC, METSIM, etc.)
- Available for occasional travel to client sites
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for membership
